MY SESSIONS ARE INFORMED BY

  • SYMBOLIC- EXPERIENTIAL THERAPY

In symbolic-experiential family therapy, the emphasis is on experiencing emotions, feelings, and the symbolic aspects of our lives. I help you create new experiences in therapy that build your confidence in these skills, both during our sessions and in your daily life outside of therapy. This approach aims to deepen your understanding of emotions and relationships, empowering you to navigate life's challenges more effectively.

  • Dialectical behavior therapy

I am certified in DBT which includes 4 different parts- Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness, & Emotion Regulation. I utilize these skill as little or often as you like and offer them in a neurodivergent friendly learning style.

  • Attachment Therapy

I am a registered attachment therapist and hold a strong belief that our first relationships in life can impact connections and relationships throughout our lives. I also believe you are not “stuck” in your attachment style, and with intentional work, I can assist you In healing your attachment style.

  • Humor

I hold a strong belief that humor can be a valuable tool in the therapy room. Humor is not always a defense or deflection mechanism. I utilize humor in my sessions as a connection tool and to allow you to “dig deeper,” in a less overwhelming way.

  • Strengths Based Therapy

“Strengths based therapy focuses on your internal strengths and resourcefulness, rather than on your weaknesses, failures, and shortcomings.” While we will spend time on things that are hard and areas you want to make growth in, I will always find time/space to call out the positive and the growth. I will support you and cheerlead for you every step of the way!

  • Person Centered Therapy

I strongly believe that clients have the best insight about what they need to navigate life. I am a client led clinician and often share the metaphor that you are driving the car and I am in the passenger seat, providing support, offering potential directions, and always-playing good music!

My Ideal Client is Looking for

  • LGBTQIA+ Individual Therapy

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I create a supportive space for individuals to explore and process their identities within this diverse community. I assist clients in discovering if they identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum and help them navigate the emotions and experiences that come with embracing this aspect of their identity. Having someone who understands the complexities of queer life can be invaluable in helping clients navigate their journey with understanding and pride.

  • Neurodivergent Informed Therapy

I offer neurodivergent-informed therapy sessions, drawing from my own experiences as a neurodivergent individual to create a space that recognizes the challenges of navigating a world not built for us. I support clients in exploring their neurodivergence, helping them understand and cope with their unique experiences. Together, we work to identify personal needs and develop strategies for creating or advocating for accommodations that support their well-being.

  • Trauma Informed Therapy

I help individuals process their trauma, understand its impacts, and work towards healing. Having experienced my own trauma, I can relate to others as they process difficult experiences, allowing them to spend less time explaining and more time healing. I empower clients to navigate their trauma in a way that feels empowering to them, and I also work with them to determine if a different route of trauma therapy might be beneficial, providing appropriate referrals as needed.

  • Addressing the mother wound

I help people address the mother wound, providing support and guidance in navigating the complexities of relationships with mothers. These relationships can be intricate and challenging to understand alone, and I assist individuals in processing the trauma and ruptures that may have occurred. Together, we work on healing these wounds and identifying how you want to move forward, fostering healthier and more fulfilling connections.

  • Inclusive Couples Therapy

I understand that relationships can take many forms that are not always represented in mainstream society. I support all relationship makeups and partnerships, working with people to understand how things are going in their relationships and assisting them in setting goals for where they want to go. I help couples increase communication, identify struggles that arise, and recognize communication differences. Additionally, I provide psychoeducation and understanding of various types of diversity and how they impact relationships, helping people identify their strengths to build healthier and more fulfilling connections.

  • Inclusive Family Therapy

I recognize that families come in many forms and face unique challenges. I create a supportive environment where all family members can express themselves openly and work together to address conflicts and strengthen their relationships. My approach considers the diverse backgrounds, identities, and dynamics within families, and I aim to foster understanding and collaboration among family members. Together, we explore communication patterns, identify areas for growth, and develop strategies to enhance family cohesion and resilience.

Diversity equity and inclusion

My training in systemic multicultural therapy allows me to create a healthy and inclusive therapeutic space where we can address the injustices and social norms that make therapy and life difficult. I welcome diversity including all body sizes, abilities, races, sexualities, genders, religions, and political values. I recognize the systemic oppression faced by Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, and other people of color due to white supremacy, and I am committed to decolonizing myself and my work. Discrimination is pervasive and includes, but is not limited to, ageism, ableism, sexism, and racism. I also acknowledge the oppression, abuse, and exclusion experienced by the LGBTQIA+ community. My mission is to dismantle these barriers and foster an inclusive environment. This is an active daily process for me and I am open to being called in to work I still need to complete and focus on to make growth in these areas.
