Hi, I’m Kenzie, LMFT (She/They).
Relationships are hard and the struggles we experience can be complex. We don’t always understand or have the words to explain what's going on in our lives- but we know we aren't feeling how we want to. The traditional approach to therapy can be intimidating and at times, hard to understand.
In my sessions, we will build our relationship with humor and compassion. I believe that everyone's struggles are unique. I'm here to help guide you to discover the best ways to heal in your situation. I am passionate about helping couples, families, and individuals heal through reframing and normalizing your conflicts while creating new experiences.
About me
My facility dog, Yona II, and I. She was provided to me free of charge through Canine Companions for Independence. She is trained in 50+ commands to assist you therapeutically in our sessions together. Yona loves people and is so excited to meet you!
My background helps me take a holistic stance so we can identify what is impacting your struggles and work together to find the solutions. My training in systemic multicultural therapy allows me to create a healthy and inclusive therapeutic space where we can address the injustices and social norms that make therapy and life difficult. I offer a brave space.
I am a queer, nonbinary, neurodivergent therapist, and show up authentically in each session. I am a chronic childhood abuse and neglect survivor. I work with many clients who are coming to realize they may align with these identities and want a space to process this. I enjoy supporting clients through identity exploration and processing how these identities impact their daily lives. I enjoy assisting clients in processing trauma and creating necessary boundaries for the relationships in their lives.
I am originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, and currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina. I achieved my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at NC State (go pack!) and my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Appalachian State University. I enjoy reading (far too much, please ask me about my book goal progress this year), hanging out with my people, being at the beach, trying new restaurants, playing tennis, and lying down for a little doom scroll time. I value the work I do and the relationships I build with clients. I’m honored to build trust and work with people throughout their journeys.
